At six months in to cycle touring we’ve had some experience using our equipment. Months ago we posted a three part series on how we were going to handle water storage and transportation while travelling. Here’s a quick shakedown on how our choices have fared so far:

One of the most important aspects of a piece of cycle touring gear is that it have multiple uses. The more uses something has, the more valuable and cherished it becomes to the cycle tourist. Including rest days while on a long distance bike tour are an important part of extended travel. So, out on the road, when we’re not on our bikes but still somewhere we want to explore on foot, both of us will require a bag of some sort to carry our essential belongings around with us. A short time ago, two worthy and stalwart opponents dropped by to participate in a much heralded ‘tent-off’, organized to showcase a head-to-head competition between our home-team’s Hilleberg Staika and the away-team’s “Moss Stardome II“.
